South Burnett Saints men’s team kicked off their 2026 campaign in the Darling Downs AFL competition in Toowoomba last weekend.

Unfortunately, the day didn’t go well for the visitors with the South Toowoomba Bombers dominating.

This weekend, the men will be on the road again, taking on Warwick at Warwick.

The Saints’ women team had a far better weekend in their Round 2 game, defeating the Bombers 10.9-69 to 3.0-18.

Goals were kicked by Alisha Fagg (2), Reanna Fenton (2), Aleisha Collins, Elizabeth Porter, Hayley Ellison, Jalara Wagner, Nicole Gunston and Teresa Foster.

The women have a bye this weekend; they’ll next be in action at the big Heritage Day round in Kingaroy on May 16.

Deegan Johannessen kicked four goals in Saints U13s Mixed game last Saturday and also turned out with the U15s team.

He was named “Player’s Player” in both games.

Saints U13s 4.8-32 put in a strong performance against Bombers 8.16-64.

Under 15s went down against Bombers 21.10-136 to 4.3-27.

Saints’ Under 11s will have their first game on Sunday in Toowoomba against Coolaroo.
