The “Big Marn” himself, well-known sports journalist and former Maroon Darryl Brohman, will be the guest speaker at next month’s Mayor’s Relay For Life cancer fundraising brekkie in Kingaroy.
Brohman’s rugby league career began at Brisbane Norths in the 1970s before he went on to play for Penrith and Canterbury-Bankstown during the 1980s.
However, his sporting career didn’t end when he finally pulled off his footy boots.
Brohman has carved out a big media presence on radio and TV over the years, including regular segments on Network Nine’s The Footy Show.
More recently, he has been working through his own cancer recovery journey after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma last year.
And it is not the first time cancer has touched his life; Brohman had successful surgery for prostate cancer in 2010.
Tickets for the Mayor’s Relay For Life Breakfast launch are $35 per head and can be booked online
The breakfast will be held from 6:30am (doors open at 6:00am) on May 15 at the Kingaroy RSL Club.
All proceeds will be donated to the South Burnett’s Relay For Life campaign for Cancer Council Queensland.
