Saints’ batter Brendan Ferguson was leading the runs table at the summer break

South Burnett cricket competition newcomers Saints confirmed their position at the top of the ladder by downing Kingaroy Services at Wondai last Saturday.

At the holiday break, Saints were just ahead of Services with five victories.

Services won the toss at Wondai Cricket Ground and sent Saints in to bat.

Saints were all out for 125 in the 37th over with Grant Spring top-scoring with 23 runs off 37 balls.

Lachlan Watson (3/24 of eight overs) and Trevor Black (2/12 off six) finished with the best bowling figures for Services.

In reply, Services were all out for 99 in the 33rd over,

Glenn Kelly (19) and Fletcher Black (17) were the top scorers.

Jack Mines (3/13 off eight) and (3/28 off 8) were the best of the Saints’ bowlers.

The South Burnett Senior Cricket competition will resume on January 24.

November 29 Results

Gympie One-Day A Grade Competition

  • Wooroolin Warriors (7/103)  def. Valleys (102 all out) at Lyle Vidler Oval, Kingaroy.

Wooroolin won the toss and elected to bowl. Valleys were all out in the 33rd over for 102 runs.

Kyron Tunstall (5/20 off eight overs) and Michael Davies (3/18 off 5.4 overs) did the damage for Warriors.

In reply, Warriors took 25 overs to overtake the target.

The home side started slowly but Hayden Wieck (36 not out) and Luke Smith (21 not out) did the work at the tail

NB. All South Burnett Cricket Association senior and junior games were abandoned. The Tingoora Vikings game at Dalby was also washed out.  The Gympie A Grade game between Murgon Crusaders and Gympie Colts was also abandoned.
