Wondai Regional Art Gallery has a very special exhibition opening on Friday night, offering a unique opportunity for art lovers to add works by possibly the South Burnett’s most famous artist to their collection.

A total of 88 works by the late William David Bryce (1916-2000) will be on display and available to purchase.

This is the first time the collection – which consists of oil and watercolour paintings, pencil sketches, ink drawings and sculptures from his estate – has been offered for sale.

David was a family friend of the anonymous Brisbane collector.

“As David never married or had children he left his estate to my grandmother,” she said.

“They were friends for over 40 years. He taught my mother art in the late ’60s/early ’70s. I also learnt art with him during the 1990s.

“He was a dear friend of the family having lunch (with him) every month for 40 years.”

Also on display by the Brisbane collector are works by French painter and printmaker, the late André Minaux (1923–1986).

Minaux’s works include 30 signed limited edition lithographs and an original gouache painting.

Also included in the exhibition are a rare signed serigraph by American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, a signed low-edition piece by Belgium street artist Cee Pil as well as works by Australian artists, including Kingaroy’s own Jeff Hosking.

The official opening will be held from 6:00pm this Friday (July 4). Admission is $5.
