A man suffered life-threatening injuries when a livestock truck and a 4WD ute collided just south of Cooyar on Monday morning.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Cooyar-Rangemore Road and the New England Highway (Munro Street).

Emergency services were called just after 8:00am.

The man was initially trapped inside the wreckage of the 4WD and had to be cut free by fire crews.

Police closed the highway while emergency services were on the scene and put diversions in place via Macdougall Street, East Cooyar Road and Log Yard Road.

A QAS spokesperson said the man was taken by road ambulance to Toowoomba Hospital with significant pelvic, head, chest and spinal injuries.

The D’Aguilar Highway was closed in both directions for almost five hours on Monday morning after a semi-trailer crashed at Woolmar, near Kilcoy, about 8:00am.

Traffic was diverted via Esk-Kilcoy Road to Gregors Creek Road and then on to the Brisbane Valley Highway.

The D’Aguilar Highway reopened just before 1:00pm.

No one was injured in the incident.
