University Cougars overcame South Burnett Saints during their clash at Lyle Vidler Oval last Saturday

Australian Rules fans turned out in good numbers at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy last Saturday to watch the South Burnett Saints take on the University Cougars in all three grades.

Unfortunately, the visiting Cougars went home triumphant despite strong showings by the Saints.

In the senior men’s game, Cougars downed the Saints 14.10-94 to 7.5-47.

Saints’ goals were kicked by Brad Pressnell (2), Ryan Jacobs (2), Jack Mines, Joshua Adamson and Ryan Zeller.

Saints’ senior women suffered a narrow defeat, with both teams kicking three goals apiece: Cougars 3.9-27 to 3.3-21.

Saints’ goal kickers included Aleisha Collins and Jalara Wagner.

In Under 13.5s, South Burnett had an exciting game against Cougars.

The visitors came out on top, 7.4-46, to the Saints’ 2.13-25 but South Burnett had more kicks at the sticks.

South Burnett goals were kicked by Deegan Johannessen and Hayden McCrea.

The three Saints’ teams will be action this Saturday against the South Toowoomba Bombers at Southern Cross Oval in Toowoomba.

The club’s next home game will be on July 12.
