June 20, 2025

Kingaroy Red Ants will be turning pink this Saturday for their annual “playing for a cure” Pink Day at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy to support the McGrath Foundation.

Kingaroy will be hosting a full round of junior games from 8:00am plus two South Burnett A Grade games and an Under 14s match (see below).

There’ll also be lots of pink fun with face painting from 9:00am to noon, lolly bags and a bake sale as well as raffles.

The bar will open at 2:00pm.

The Red Ants are also boosting their fundraising for the McGrath Foundation with a big trivia night at their clubhouse on Friday night.

Cherbourg were well ahead at half-time but Kingaroy bounced back in the second half

A Grade

Cherbourg Hornets held on to defeat Kingaroy 48-32 after a second-half comeback by the Red Ants in the A Grade rugby league game played at Cherbourg last Saturday.

The Hornets were ahead 30-14 at half-time but Kingaroy held their own after the break, helped by a Hornets’ player getting sin-binned.

Cherbourg try scorers were Dominique Sandow (2), Steve Walsh, Preston Mosby, Lloyd Langton, George Fisher, Barry Tapau-Fewquandie and Elwyn Fewquandie. George Fisher kicked eight from eight conversions.

Kingaroy tries were scored by Isaac Tupai, Joshua Peterson, Karl Freeman, Jack Stead, Alex Pomfret and Bailey Talbot-Scobie. Chris Bond kicked three conversions and one penalty goal.

In the other scheduled A Grade game, Murgon Mustangs forfeited to the Wondai Wolves.
