South Burnett Regional Council has completed several upgrades in the Durong area, thanks to a $30,000 allocation from State Government Works For Queensland funding.

The works included:

  • Painting the external walls of the tennis clubhouse and the picnic table area
  • Creating a post and rail fence which will be used as an acknowledgement board to honour Durong pioneers
  • New gardens around the septic tank beside the Durong Hall
  • A new sign highlighting the history of Durong on the back of the tennis clubhouse
  • Mulching and landscaping the old second tennis court area

“These upgrades will provide a great chance for visitors and the community to sit and relax while learning of the history of Durong,” Cr Ros Heit said.

“Along with the new post and rail fence, these works provide a chance to showcase Durong’s long history and acknowledge the pioneers of this area.”
