Nanango’s State Emergency Service (SES) unit is the proud owner of a new response vehicle, thanks to the State Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
The truck, which replaces the unit’s 2009 model Chevrolet Colorado, was officially handed over on May 12 in a small ceremony at the Nanango SES shed.
Cr Jane Erkens said the South Burnett Regional Council was grateful to the area’s SES volunteers.
“(We) are excited that they have received a vehicle fitted out with all the bells and whistles to provide effective operational responses during emergencies and natural disasters,” Cr Erkens said.
People interested in joining the SES have been invited to attend a training session – which are held every Monday night from 7:00pm – to learn more about SES operations.
Training sessions are held at:
- Nanango – corner Chester and Grey streets
- Kingaroy – 5 Glendon Street
- Blackbutt – 27 Muir Street
- Wondai – 22 McCord Street
- Proston – corner Collingwood and Nelson streets
