May 9, 2025

The Bike 4 Burns charity ride will be passing through the South Burnett next week!

The cyclists – made up of current and former members of the emergency services and their supporters – will roll out of Eidsvold next Tuesday (May 13).

They will stop off at Gayndah, Proston, Kingaroy, Yarraman, Toogoolawah and Wulkuraka on their way to Brisbane.

The ride will finish at the Emergency Services Complex in Kedron on Monday, May 19, after covering more than 500km over seven days.

Next Wednesday (May 14), they will roll into Proston where they will be camping overnight before heading off to Kingaroy the next morning.

While in Proston, the riders have joined with the South Burnett Regional Council and the Local Disaster Management Team for a special  “Emergency Lane” event at the Proston Fire Station.

This will be an opportunity to meet the riders, support their fundraising and learn more about emergency management.

The fun afternoon will run on Wednesday afternoon from 4:00pm to 5:30pm.

The is the 19th year that the Bike 4 Burns charity ride has raised funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The money raised goes to support research, equipment and rehabilitation for children who suffer burns – a cause that is especially close to the heart of firefighters who make up the bulk of the riders.

The ride also helps to promote a healthy lifestyle for emergency services staff.

The riders are hoping to raise $60,000 through their efforts this year.
