The Burrandowan Picnic Race Club will be celebrating 103 years of racing at Burrandowan, 66km west of Kingaroy, on Saturday (May 10).
Crowds have been gathering at Burrandowan on the second Saturday in May since 1922 to take in the atmosphere of a bush picnic race meeting.
Organisers are hoping for another bumper turnout at this classic South Burnett race meeting, which will also be hosting a qualifying race for the 2025 Battle Of The Bush final which will be held at Eagle Farm on June 28.
Buses will be running from Kingaroy at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm (book with Pursers Coaches).
Camping is available at the track for Saturday night.
Racing begins at 1:30pm and there’s a five-race card, with the always popular Fashions On The Field contests running during an extended break between the third and fourth races.
After the fifth (and last) race is run, the course’s pit-fired barbecue will light up and there’ll be live entertainment running until late into the night.
Patrons are reminded there are no ATMs and no mobile phone coverage at the track, so they should bring cash.
Entry to this year’s meeting is $30 per head (plus booking fee) and tickets can be booked online
