Sunpork has donated 2000kg of meat to help with the South Burnett Regional Council’s annual wild dog and feral pig co-ordinated baiting programs.
This month’s program, which runs until Thursday, is being conducted in the rural areas of Boondooma, Melrose, Proston, Nanango, Murgon, Windera, Kingaroy, Kumbia and the Bunya Mountains.
“The Sunpork Group is proud to support the local community through our donation of 2000kg of product to the 2025 South Burnett Regional Council baiting program. We recognise the significant threat that feral animals pose to both producers and the broader meat industry,” Sunpork plant manager Warren Keevers said.
Mayor Duff thanked the Sunpork Group for their strong support of the program.
“This donation of meat assists with the smooth running of the program and saves landholders the cost and inconvenience of sourcing their own meat,” Mayor Duff said.
Council runs baiting programs in May and August every year and will also assist at other times if there are major concerns.
The SBRC has encouraged landholders to participate in the programs to try to reduce the numbers of feral pigs and wild dogs.
“The more rural landholders who get involved the more likely that these programs will be successful,” Mayor Duff said.
