Round 1 of the Darling Downs AFL competition was played in Toowoomba last Saturday.
The South Burnett Saints’ men’s and women’s teams came up against teams from the University of Southern Queensland, who were playing at home.
The men were defeated 9.6-60 to 2.0-12. Saints’ goals were kicked by Kelly Salmon and Nathan Trace.
The women lost 6.5-41 to 1.3-9 with Jalana Wagner kicking the Saints’ goal.
This weekend, the Saints’ Under 13s mixed team will be in action for the first time this season.
All three teams will be playing at Southern Cross Oval in Toowoomba against South Tooowoomba Bombers’ sides.
