South Burnett Saints AFL Club will receive a $75,000 grant to put towards its expansion project if the Coalition wins power at the May 3 Federal Election.

Nationals Leader and Member for Maranoa David Littleproud made the promise on Monday.

The grant would go towards the club’s ongoing project to build men’s and women’s changing rooms at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.

South Burnett Saints president Jeremy Zaccardi said the club had been raising funds for the upgrades for more than 18 months.

“Australian Rules is becoming increasingly popular across the South Burnett with strong numbers of young boys and girls coming through our junior ranks,” Mr Zaccardi said.

“This upgrade is crucial for us to continue to accommodate our growing numbers and provide a safe space for all of our players. The entire community will benefit from this upgraded facility, and we sincerely thank the Coalition for throwing its support behind us and this project.”

The Saints have also received grants from the South Burnett Regional Council, the Tarong Community Partnership Fund, the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and an allocation in the 2024 State Budget towards the project.
