Kingaroy Hospital has received a non-invasive ventilator – a key piece of equipment for the Emergency Department – thanks to the Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary and the generous support of the local community.

Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary president Alison Murray  said that without the generosity of community members, a grant from Tarong Community Partnership Fund and donations from
Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club, Cooinda Craft Group, QCWA Kingaroy and Go Getta Girls, the auxiliary would still be fundraising to buy the ventilator.

““Everyone working together as a team has enabled Kingaroy Hospital to receive the non-invasive ventilator in under 12 months,” Alison said.

“The Auxiliary would like to express its immense gratitude and appreciation to all those organisations and community members who helped with our efforts.”

Nurse Unit Manager Dan Burke and his staff are already seeing the benefits of having the ventilator at Kingaroy Hospital, as the nearest one is in Toowoomba.

“A patient suffering from either a lung disorder, asthma, congestive heart disorder or respiratory failure can now access key treatment on arrival at hospital. As a result, a patient is more likely to remain at Kingaroy Hospital until well, instead of being transferred out via road or air,” Dan said.

The Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary is now focusing its attentions on raising funds for equipment for the Theatre Department at Kingaroy Hospital.

“The Auxiliary recently ran an Easter raffle with prizes generously donated by local supporters, Barney and Anita, and The Commercial Hotel Kingaroy,” Alison said.

“Wendy, from Kingaroy, won the major prize of a week’s holiday at Woodgate and three others received prizes.”

People help support the auxiliary’s fundraising efforts by buying a ticket in their Mother’s Day raffle.

Tickets will be available at Peries IGA Kingaroy on Sunday or at the Nanango Markets in May.

The major prize is an Elray Jewellers’ voucher and a Commercial Hotel Kingaroy voucher.
