Excitement is building for this weekend’s Murgon Show … the Showgirls and Rural Ambassador have been chosen, and the countdown is now on for a big two-day event which will be topped off by fireworks and a bullride on Saturday night!
A special presentation dinner for the showgirls was held at Murgon RSL Club recently.
After judging, the lucky winners were presented with their sashes: Junior Showgirl Addi Smith, Showgirl Gypsy Skilton, Rural Ambassador Tristan Waldock and Mrs Murgon Leah Reimers.
They’ll all be kept busy over the next few days.
Show activities will get under way on Friday with prime cattle judging, Young Judges competitions and entertainment into the evening, including dog high jumps (see the Show Program below).
But the main day of the show will be Saturday, where there’ll be all the usual competitions during the day, ie. horses, stud and prime cattle, a dog show, poultry and a Grand Parade about noon.
In sideshow alley, there’ll be dodg’ems, a jumping castle, super slide, laughing clowns, face-painting and a petting zoo for the children.
At 2:00pm, a Stockman’s Challenge will begin in the main arena.
But the big event – which always attracts the largest crowd – is the rodeo which will start at 4:00pm and run through until 9:00pm, with a break at 7:00pm for fireworks.
Entry prices (which includes the rodeo) are $15 for adults, $10 for students (ages 10-17) and pensioners, or a family pass for $45 (2 adults, 2 children). Under 10s are free! And if you pay to enter on Friday, you’ll be given a wristband to enter for free on Saturday.
