Tanduringie State School P&C’s volunteers are working hard to make this Saturday night the best bullride yet at Maidenwell!

The annual event is an important fundraiser for the small school, which is located about 6km south of Maidenwell.

It is one of the richest bullrides in the South Burnett area – thanks to the generosity of sponsors – offering $3500 prizemoney for the main event, the Shane Cullen Memorial Bull Ride.

As well, the winner will also take home a buckle, donated by Dean and Kerin Cullen.

Shane was a well-respected local resident and school parent who died in a tragic farming accident in 2021.

Many local businesses have thrown their weight behind the bullride this year, including G3 Engineering and Smoothy Contracting.

“Tanduringie State School is the heart of the local community,” P&C secretary Melanie McNaughton said.

“We are always so grateful for the ongoing support from the local community members of Maidenwell.

“As a tiny committee, we rely on their help to pull off an event of this size.

“We have volunteers who have children well into their 30s that were past students of Tanduringie. They still come back each year to lend a hand!

“Months of planning and preparation led up to our event, and we are so grateful to local South Burnett businesses for their sponsorship.

“We feel very passionate about volunteering in our local community and modelling this to our children so they see the value and possibly grow up to do the same!”

As well as the Shane Cullen Memorial Bull Ride, there will be events for novice riders, U18s, U15s and 7s-U12s and more!

Gates open at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds at 4:00pm.

Entry cost for spectators is $25 for adults, $15 for 12-18 years and U12s free.  A family pass (2 adults and 3 children) is $50.

The committee members who organised the 2024 ride … many will be returning this year to lend a hand!
