March 3, 2025

The Jimna Forest Action Group Inc (JFAGI) has advised that another assessment of the condition of the historic Jimna Fire Tower will be carried later this month.

The 47m tall Jimna Fire Tower was built in 1977 and is claimed to be the tallest man-made wooden fire tower of its type in the southern hemisphere.

Dave Wright, from JFAGI, said the DPI had engaged a contractor to carry out a condition assessment.

“The next steps with the project will be informed by the site visit and condition assessment,” Dave said.

JFAGI has also alerted residents that Queensland Hydro has advised that increased vehicle and truck movements will be occurring on Kilcoy-Murgon Road, Sunday Creek Road and Yielo Road from this month.

This increase traffic is linked to the proposed Borumba Pumped Hydro project.

There will be site vehicles, quarry deliveries and earthworks equipment involving large flatbed trucks with pilot vehicles travelling in convoy.
