The HOGS National Tour – a mix of NRL and NRLW players plus Harley-Davidson motorbikes – rolled into Kingaroy on Sunday as part of a three-State tour to promote rugby league.
The star-studded line-up was headed by former NSW and Australian captain Brad “Freddy” Fittler who was kept busy signing autographs for young fans.
Women’s rugby league has been taking off in recent years in the South Burnett, so the visit by Broncos front-rower Tara McGrath-West and Newcastle Knights’ Georgia Roche and Yasmin Clydsdale added to the excitement.
More than 150 young rugby league players took part in a skills and drills clinic at T.J. O’Neill Oval supervised by the visiting footballers.
They were then presented with free souvenir footballs and invited to enjoy a free sausage sizzle.
The HOGS tour began in Penrith on February 7.
“The NRL HOGS National Tour is all about connecting with and celebrating regional communities who are the fabric of our great game,” Fittler said.
“This tour is our opportunity to give back to them.”
After Kingaroy, the bikers were planning to head off to Rockhampton.
The tour, which is visiting 18 towns in NSW, Queensland and Victoria, was sponsored by Westpac.
