Younger cooks who may have been too scared to enter the Queensland Ag Shows’ venerable “Dark Rich Fruit Cake” competition now have a new State competition of their own in which they can test their skills.
The Next Generation Anzac Biscuit competition will be open to competitors aged from 18 to 40 as at May 1.
But older cooks need not worry, the “Dark Rich Fruit Cake” competition will still be running, open to competitors of all ages!
Heats of the various QCAS statewide competitions – which include Showgirl, Rural Ambassador, Young Judges and Young Paraders – are held at local shows.
However, it is up to local show societies to decide which of the State competitions they will hold at their individual events.
Sub-Chamber representatives are then chosen from each competition who travel to Brisbane to represent their region at the Ekka.
