Rugby League fans will enjoy a couple of special treats in coming weeks, with two big events attracting stars from the past to Kingaroy.

International Legends Of League
On Saturday, February 22, the Kingaroy Red Ants will be hosting the International Legends Of League at T.J. O’Neill Oval.
The Legends attracted big crowds when they last visited the South Burnett, in 2019 and 2023 at Cherbourg.
This time round they will be pitting the Australian Team Of Legends against the Kingaroy Red Ants All Stars in what is sure to be an fun-filled game.
On the paddock will be former NRL stars, local businesspeople and former and current South Burnett players in what is sure to be a hectic and confusing encounter:
Aussie Legends: Sam Thaiday, George Burgess, Cliff Lyons, John Hopoate, Ben Hannant, Darren Smith, Neville Costigan, Noel Goldthorpe, Stu Kelly, Antonio Winterstein, Kevin Campion, Antonio Kaufusi, Ash Taylor, Terry Matterson, Peter Gill, Reggie Cressbrook, Craig Teevan, Craig Wilson, Nash Holznagel, Jason Holznagel, Rhys Collins, Darren Bowden, Bradley Boston and Steve Lacey.
Kingaroy All Stars: Tony Dugdell, Ben O’Callaghan, Matthew Allen, Shaun Manthey, Toby Nroomhall, Jayden Jarvis, Ashley Dionysius, Ryan Sullivan, Mick Dugdell, Steve Krosch, Andrew Kelly, Matthew Curtis, Ben Curtis, Mitch Cush, Brad Cavanagh, Sonie Crumpton, Mick Freeman, Brendan Crouch, Troy and Todd Fiedler, Jason Webber, Jonathon Gusthart, Sam Broomhall, Jason Tessmann, Martyn McCracken, Xander Dunemann, Dan O’Callaghan and Connor Sullivan.
International Legends Of League CEO Troy Byers and former Maroon Craig Teevan officially launched the Legends event last week at the Red Ants Clubhouse alongside South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff and Kingaroy Red Ants club president Toby Broomhall.
The official program for the fun day of league also features an Under 12s game at 1:30pm, followed by Cherbourg Hornets v Oakey Redbelly Blacks at 2:30pm, Kingaroy Red Ants A Grade v Across The Waves at 4:00pm, and then the Legends game at 6:00pm.

Former Origin Greats

The second big league event scheduled to hit Kingaroy is the Former Origin Greats (FOG) gala dinner at Kingaroy Town Hall on March 14.
The two-course dinner will be supporting junior rugby league in the region.
The panel discussion will feature Wally Lewis, Matt Gillett, Trevor Gillmeister, Darius Boyd and Chris Close.
There will also be an auction of genuine Queensland State of Origin memorabilia.
