A man aged in his 20s was airlifted to hospital in a stable condition after a fiery head-on crash which blocked traffic on the D’Aguilar Highway near Colinton on Tuesday afternoon.

A truck and a car collided near the intersection of Nurinda Road about 4:30pm.

Passersby assisted the driver from the smaller vehicle which burst into flames after the collision.

A QAS spokesperson said the driver suffered pelvic injuries and was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a rescue helicopter landed on the highway.

The truck driver escaped injury.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said the vehicle was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Three fire crews were called to the blaze which was extinguished by 5:20pm.

They also assisted with a small diesel spill at the scene.

Three people were taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition after two vehicles collided at the intersection of the Bunya Highway and Cherbourg Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called just after 3:00pm.
