The Kilkivan Great Horse Ride will receive a $10,000 grant from FRRR

Four South Burnett not-for-profit groups are the lucky recipients of a total of almost $40,000 in “Small & Vital” grants from the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal (FRRR) .

The grants are part of FRRR’s Strengthening Rural Communities program which aims to “enhance the vitality and liveability of remote, rural and regional places” across Australia.

Since it began in 2019,  the program has supported more than 2360 remote, rural and regional communities, distributing a total of more than $27.4 million.

The grants are collaboratively supported by donors, ranging from private individuals to large foundations.

Small & Vital Grants:

  • Blackbutt Agricultural Show Society – Buy Mower for Blackbutt Showgrounds – $10,000
  • Kilkivan Community Garden and Railway Markets Project – Provide marketing and entertainment activities to support the revitalisation of a long-running community event, the Kilkivan Great Horse Ride Street Market & Family Fun Day – $10,000
  • Wondai Woodworkers – Buy a portable sawmill and woodworking joinery equipment to enable the production of a wider range of items and provide training opportunities – $9921
  • Yarraman & District Men’s Shed – Complete shed fit-out to support community activities in Yarraman – $9663
