Kingaroy resident Anne Logan is the lucky recipient of the $1000 South Burnett Mayor’s Bursary offered by the National Council of Women in Queensland (NCWQ).

The bursary is one of a number offered annually by the NCWQ.

The Mayor’s Bursary is sponsored by the South Burnett Regional Council for a female student from the region who has contributed to the local community.

From the NCWQ’s 2024 Yearbook of bursary recipients:

I am a mature-age student completing a Bachelor of Business and Commerce through UniSQ.

I am the youngest of eight children, the mother of three wonderful sons and grandmother of two beautiful grandchildren. I come from a family-owned small business background, married a third-generation farmer, and have experienced firsthand the challenges faced by small business owners and primary producers.

I undertook university study to improve my future and gain the necessary skills to assist others with their accounting, finance, and taxation needs.

My goal is to secure a position where I can use my skills to assist residents in our region. I am particularly interested in helping farmers with their taxation requirements and succession planning, as the plight of farmers is close to my heart.

I like helping others and love being involved in my local community. One ongoing rewarding experience is providing enjoyment to others through singing, especially the residents of nursing homes.

I am incredibly grateful to the NCWQ and South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff for this bursary which will help with the cost of my course fees.

Member for Maranoa David Littleproud also sponsored a $1000 bursary for a female resident of the Maranoa Federal electorate who is in their first year in tertiary studies. The lucky recipient was Charlotte Baker, from western Queensland:

My name is Charlotte Baker, and my family lives on a cattle property just outside of Goondiwindi in the Maranoa electorate.

I am currently completing my first year studying a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Queensland, with intentions to also commence a Bachelor of Laws next year.

I reside at St John’s College in Brisbane, providing opportunities to pursue my interests in sport and community.

I am very grateful to have been awarded the Hon. David Littleproud MP Bursary for 2024. This will contribute significantly to assisting with the cost of relocating to study.

One day I intend to return to rural Queensland to live and work, as this is where my heart lies.

NCWQ Bursaries are awarded annually to successful Queensland female student applicants.

There are range on offer every year. More information is available on the NCWQ website
