Jayden Tewes-Smallwood romps away to score the second of his two tries for the Nanango Stags … Tewes-Smallwood also kicked 11 from 11 conversion attempts on Saturday!

August 9, 2024

Cherbourg Hornets have finished as Minor Premiers in the 2024 South Burnett Rugby League A Grade competition, despite a thumping win by the second-placed Nanango Stags.

Nanango defeated Wondai by 67-4 on Saturday afternoon at Stags Oval, keeping their Minor Premiership chances alive.

If the Kingaroy Red Ants had downed Cherbourg in the next game – played under lights – the Stags would have finished on top of the ladder … however Cherbourg simply proved too strong.

The Hornets defeated Kingaroy 30-20 after leading 22-10 at half-time.

By holding on for the win, Cherbourg have earned the right to host this week’s Semi-Finals (see below).

In Under 14s, the Kingaroy Red Ants have taken out Minor Premiership honours, just ahead of Cherbourg and Chinchilla on for-and-against.
