Kingaroy RSL Club will be hosting the official launch of this year’s South Burnett’s Relay For Life fundraising campaign.

The breakfast event will be held from 6:30am on Wednesday, May 15.

Guest speaker will be a local sporting hero, Chris Close.

“Choppy”, as he was best known, grew up in the South Burnett and played his junior rugby league with the Wondai Wolves.

He went on to play for Valleys and Redcliffe in the Brisbane RL premiership and Manly-Warringah in the NSWRL.

Close also played State of Origin for Queensland and for Australia in New Zealand tours.

Tickets for the breakfast are $35 and can be booked by phoning the club on (07) 4152-1755.

There will also be raffles on the day, with all funds raised going to the Relay For Life campaign for Cancer Council Queensland.
