Cathie D’Arcy and Kylie Birch, from the St John’s P&F committee, were at the door greeting patrons on Friday night

Bookarama is back in Kingaroy … and this year, the St John’s P&F has experimented with a new way to raise a few more dollars (and have some fun).

The P&F decided to experiment with a VIP Preview Night on Friday at Kingaroy Town Hall.

For $10, guests could get first pick at browsing all the books, CDs, DVDs and other goodies on sale as well as enjoying a complimentary drink on arrival and some nibbles.

But book worms need not worry that there will be nothing left for them this weekend!

Four truckloads of books have been unpacked at the Town Hall, with volunteers keeping the tables well-stacked as items are sold.

Bookarama is a fundraiser for the P&F, which took over running the popular annual event in 2020.

It will be running at the Kingaroy Town Hall from 8:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday; and from 8:00am to noon on Sunday.

Entrance is free and all books range in price from 50 cents to $3.00.

And from 11:00am on Sunday, everything will be half-price!

Lloyd Maddern had been conscripted as the drinks waiter at the door
Codey Kapernick, Jalissa Rowsell and Cyra de Silva, from Kingaroy, were getting ready to browse the tables
Fran van Vegchel was looking over some of the older books set aside in a special display on the stage
The Town Hall was already busy on Friday night with browsers although Bookarama had not even officially begun!
