A woman was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after a collision near Yarraman on Wednesday night.

A police spokesperson said initial investigations indicated a 4WD heading towards Nanango on the D’Aguilar Highway, and a truck heading in the opposite direction, collided about 8:00pm.

The driver of the 4WD, a woman in her 50s, had to be cut free from her vehicle.

She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition with chest, abdominal and leg injuries.

The rescue helicopter managed to land nearby.

A female passenger in the 4WD, aged in her 20s, received minor injuries and was transported to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition with hand and chest pain.

The truck driver was not physically injured.

Traffic on the highway was delayed for several hours while emergency crews were at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
