The cricket season has wrapped up, so it must be time for rugby league in the South Burnett

The South Burnett Rugby League season is drawing closer, with pre-season games scheduled to be held in Kingaroy and Nanango this week.

On Friday night, the Nanango Stags and Blackbutt Timbertowners will be playing their annual trial game at Fred Kassulke Oval (Stags Stadium).

Kick-off is 7:00pm and there will be hamburgers on sale for spectators.

On Saturday, the Kingaroy Red Ants are hosting a series of pre-season games against Bundaberg junior and senior teams at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy:

  • 10:00am – Under 14s – Kingaroy v Across The Waves
  • 11:00am – Under 15s – South Burnett v Across The Waves
  • 12:20pm – Under 16s – South Burnett v Across The Waves
  • 1:40pm – Under 18s – South Burnett v Across The Waves
  • 3:00pm – A Grade – Kingaroy v Across The Waves
  • 5:00pm – A Grade – South Burnett v Across The Waves

On Thursday night (March 21), the Murgon Mustangs are hosting a Support Squad Night at Murgon Sportsgrounds.

Murgon Mustangs players (all ages) and their family members have been invited to come along from 5:30pm.

A free barbecue will be provided.

On Friday night, the Kingaroy Red Ants are hosting a family movie night at T.J. O’Neill Oval with an Easter egg hunt at 5:30pm and a movie, “Rabbit Academy”, from 6:45pm.

Entry is $15 (adults) and $10 (children) which includes dinner.

Tickets must be bought online; bookings close on Thursday (March 21)

POSTPONED: Murgon Mustangs juniors will be taking part in the Jock Butterfield Memorial Carnival, hosted by the Burrum Miners, at Torbanlea on Saturday.

The club has nominated teams in the Under 8s, Under 10s and Under 12s.
