Murgon police are asking the public for help to identify a would-be thief who threatened two members of the public on Wednesday morning

Murgon police are investigating an incident which occurred in Macalister Street early on Wednesday morning.

About 5:00am, a tall male approached two members of the public who were opening up a business.

He allegedly yelled aggressively at the pair while holding a large stick and demanded their keys.

He then allegedly threw the stick on the ground and grabbed a metal pole.

The two members of the public ran away, leaving the business keys in the door.

“The offender allegedly removed these keys and attempted to use them to open a vehicle,” a police spokesperson said.

He then allegedly picked up a large rock and threw it at the driver’s side window, damaging the vehicle.

“The offender allegedly ran after one of the members of the public and then left the area,” the spokesperson said.

The male has been described as skinny, tall (1.8m), of First Nations appearance, wearing long black pants and a towel or scarf across his face.
