The Wooroolin Community Committee will receive $2462 to update the honour boards at Wooroolin Memorial Hall.

Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said the money would be used to record the names of local residents who served in Vietnam.

The grant has come from the Federal Government’s “Saluting Their Service” program.

Mr Littleproud said the funds were vital not only to celebrate the electorate’s past but also to help educate future generations.

“The Saluting Their Service Grants program helps communities across our great country recognise those who have served in unique ways that are special to each community,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Grants such as these play a vital role in preserving our electorate’s history and those heroes that made the ultimate sacrifice, while also helping to educate our younger generations.

“It gives me great pride to have helped secure the funding for this important initiative and I’m confident this project will have a profound impact on the Wooroolin community.”

The “Saluting Their Service” grants program is always open for applications, with assessment of applications split into three batches across the year.
