The death has been reported of well-known rural journalist – and former Kumbia resident – Miles Noller, 77.

Miles grew up on the family farm in Kumbia and was educated in Kingaroy.

His byline appeared in multiple publications, ranging from the Pig Farmer to the Australian Women’s Weekly and Queensland Country Life, however he became best known recently for his time with the Crows Nest-based High Country Herald.

He joined the Herald in 2012 after working for many years at the Toowoomba Chronicle and the Rural Weekly (formerly inserted into the South Burnett Times).

Miles was a familiar face at local events, including the Burrandowan Races and Cooyar Show.

A tribute published in the High Country Herald says it all: “Miles was highly regarded, not only by the people he worked with in the news industry, but also members of the public, particularly those in rural industries”.

Miles’ funeral will be held in Toowoomba followed by interment at the Lutheran Cemetery in Kumbia.
