January 23, 2024

The South Burnett Speedway Club is kicking off its 12th annual Kings Royal carnival by throwing open its doors on Wednesday night for a free, family fun night.

The fun will start at 6:00pm in the pit area at the Kingaroy Showgrounds track, and everyone is welcome!

There’ll be race cars on display as well as live music, food vans, a jumping castle and a big screen playing clips from previous speedways.

However, the real speedway action will get under way on Thursday night with a grand parade at 3:30pm.

There are three great nights of racing scheduled with more than 280 vehicles nominated to compete.

Racing will start at 4:00pm each day.

(Any updates to the racing schedule due to the weather will be posted on the club’s Facebook page)

How The Kings Royal Works

The Kings Royal final is the highest paying race for Modified Sedans in Australia, paying out a total of $50,000 in prize money.

In the 50-lap A Main final, to be raced on Saturday night, there will be a total of $36,450 up for grabs with all drivers receiving a cash prize: $15,000 to the winner, $5000 for second, $3000 for third, down to $350 for 11th-24th.

Modified Sedan drivers will compete in a series of heats for points on Thursday and Friday night to earn a spot in the final.

The top 16 points scorers after Friday will be automatically locked into Saturday night’s A Main but will also have to compete in a series of Dashes and Pole Shuffle events on Saturday to determine their starting positions in the big race.

Other competitors will also take part in Dashes on Saturday, with the opportunity to move forward to the final.

The finishing positions in the C, D, E and F Dashes will determine the starting order of the last chance B Main race.

The top six competitors in the B Main earn a spot in the A Main final.
