Workshops designed to teach attendees how to develop art programs which appeal to young people will be held in Wondai and Blackbutt next month.

Former South Burnett artist Olivia Everitt – now based in Gympie – will be facilitating the “Level Up: Designing Art Programs for Children and Youth” workshop on February 22 at Blackbutt Memorial Hall (noon-3:00pm) and on February 29 at The Studio, Wondai Regional Art Gallery (11:00am-2:00pm).

The events have been funded by the South Burnett Regional Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund, so are free to attend.

“I’m excited to return to the South Burnett next month,” Olivia said.

“Many artists and groups are looking for meaningful ways to interact with young people and foster a love of the arts in the next generation.

“I have over 12 years’ experience in co-ordinating art programs for children and youth. This is an opportunity to share tried and tested strategies with participants.”

The workshop is recommended for artists, arts organisations, festival organisers, event managers, arts workers, creative businesses or community development professionals keen to develop art programs for young people aged 0-18.

No prior experience is necessary.
