Joshua Fearby hit 41 valuable runs for Kingaroy Services Blue at Nanango last Saturday

Kingaroy Services Blue proved too strong for Nanango Scorpions in their South Burnett senior cricket match at Alan Downie Sportsfields, Nanango, last Saturday.

Kingaroy won the toss and elected to bat.

At the end of their 40 overs, they were 6/199.

Captain Glenn Kelly top-scored with 44 runs, with Josh Fearby not far behind with 41.

Fearby was caught and bowled by Nanango’s slow – and tall – bowler Matthew Badesso, who also tempted Trevor Black to get out the same way.

Badesso finished with 2/33 off seven overs.

Nicholas Scherger (2/17 off  eight) and Brett Burrows (2/31 off five) finished with the best bowling figures for Scorpions.

In reply, Nanango were all out for 118 in the 27th over.

Jay Steinhardt (36) and Rory O’Connor (31) were the top scorers.

Josh Fearby (4/30 off 5.2) and Glenn Culling (2/7 off two) were the pick of the Kingaroy bowlers.

Murgon Diggers (4/253) defeated Wondai Wolves (3/242) by six wickets at Wondai Cricket Ground, despite a century knock by Wolves’ Lyndon Hopkins who scored 141 runs off 97 balls.

For Murgon, Jayden Heness was undefeated on 68 while Troy Litzow finished with 51 runs, which included eight boundaries.

Tingoora Vikings (7/222) continued their unbeaten run in the 2023-24 competition by downing Kingaroy Services Orange (8/121) by 101 runs  at Taabinga State School.

Wooroolin Warriors (6/171) defeated Tingoora Huntsmen (160 all out) by four wickets at Tingoora Sportsground.

In social cricket, a community match between players representing hotels in Kilkivan and Theebine will be held at Weir Oval on the Wide Bay Highway north of Kilkivan from 10:00am on Saturday.
