Motorists travelling in the South Burnett on Friday should keep an eye out for a convoy carrying a large transformer to Tarong Power Station.

A ten-axle transporter, plus police and escort vehicles, will be travelling from Dalby via Kumbia, Kingaroy and Nanango.

The convoy is scheduled to arrive at Tarong mid-afternoon.

A Stanwell spokesperson said people should expect some minor delays as the transformer is transported through the region.

The convoy will travel from Dalby on the Bunya Highway.

At Kingaroy, it will turn right from on to Aerodrome Road and then left on to Kingaroy-Cooyar Road, before joining the D’Aguilar Highway.

At Nanango, it will pass along Cairns Street and Appin Street West before rejoining the highway.

The convoy will then continue along the D’Aguilar Highway towards Yarraman before turning right on to Tarong Power Station Road.

The  transformer is for the Tarong Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) which is currently being constructed beside the power station.
