About 80 young rugby league players from across the Wide Bay region took part in a talent identification day at Kingaroy’s T.J. O’Neill Oval on Saturday.

Players – both male and female – came from clubs across the South and North Burnett, Bundaberg and Fraser Coast to take part in the drills.

The aim was to identify potential players for Wide Bay’s 2024 Cyril Connell Challenge (Under 17s Boys), Mal Meninga Cup (Under 19s Boys), Harvey Norman U19s (girls) and Under 17 female development squads.

Wide Bay coaches put the young players through their paces.

This is the second talent identification day held for the Wide Bay teams.

The first was held in Bundaberg on October 7.

The final selections for the squads are expected to be announced later this year.
