A man died on Wednesday morning when a bulldozer overturned in a forestry area at Tarong.

Three QFES crews were despatched to Ridge Road at 9:20am.

QAS paramedics and police also attended the scene.

southburnett.com.au understands the man was a sub-contractor engaged in a project to relocate several Powerlink transmission towers.

Vegetation was being cleared in an area with steep hills in preparation for the construction of the new powerlines.

The towers are being moved ahead of a proposed extension of the Meandu coal mine.

The bulldozer reportedly rolled down a slope, throwing the driver from the cabin.

A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokesperson said investigators were heading to the site.

“All work onsite has ceased,” the spokesperson said.

“The details of this incident are still being worked through by authorities, including the Queensland Police Service, and a thorough investigation will be conducted.”
