Members of the South Burnett Regional Council’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee met in Kingaroy last Saturday to put forward ideas for a proposed South Burnett Arts Strategy.

They were joined at the Town Hall Reception Room by representatives from other creative groups in the region.

The session was facilitated by Shelley Pisani from The Ideas Distillery at Bundaberg.

Shelley collected the various suggestions put forward, and the group’s assessment of priorities.

She will now prepare a draft strategy incorporating these suggestions, which will be put out for broader public discussion.

The development of an arts strategy has been a key priority of the Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee.

The committee was appointed for two years in late 2021 but only began meeting regularly in 2022.

At September’s SBRC general meeting, councillors extended the terms of the members of the voluntary committee until June 30, 2024.
