Mikayla Ward and Claudia Di Marco get ready to walk down the red carpet on Friday night

September 18, 2023

Saint Mary’s Catholic College students enjoyed a perfect Spring evening for their 2023 formal dinner at Kingaroy Town Hall on Friday night.

Unlike some previous years – and what Nanango students faced recently – the rain stayed away, ensuring the Glendon Street Forecourt was packed with proud family members and friends.

Students arrived in a mixture of classic autos (mostly Chevys or Holdens) but two prime movers really stole the show … one from Haydon Freighters and an after-dark special from Gleich Contracting.

The Year 12 students and their partners waved to the livestream camera before parading down a new 30m carpet bought especially for the occasion.

There were sequins, glitter and even a kilt (believed to be a St Mary’s formal first!)

The students and their partners were introduced to the crowd by comperes Damien Martoo and teacher Alyssa Thomas.

Alyssa, who teaches Prep as well as Year 5, said she had known many of the graduating Year 12s since they started school.
