FLASHBACK: Three of the organisers of the Double Dingo Duathlon –  Claire Kapernick, Jason Wyeth and Ros Heit – after the South Burnett Express Rail Trail Relay run earlier this year which they also helped to co-ordinate

August 25, 2023

Athletes keen to test their skills have been invited to book a spot in the first official duathlon – ie. running and cycling – to be held on the South Burnett Rail Trail.

The Double Dingo Duathlon will be held on Sunday, September 10, starting and finishing at Wondai.

There are two distances: the Enticer (2km run / 10km ride, starting 7:00am)  or the Sprint (8km run / 25km ride, starting 7:15am).

The Enticer is for solo entrants only, but solo entrants or teams of two (runner / cyclist) can enter the Sprint.

Registrations can be made online but all entries must be received before September 7.

Runners will head off southwards from near the Timber Museum to a checkpoint; there they will turn around and run back to the transition area in Coronation Park.

They will then hop on their bikes and ride north along the rail trail to another turnaround checkpoint before heading back to the finishing line in Coronation Park.

Everyone who finishes the event will receive a medal!

The Double Dingo Duathlon is an initiative of the South Burnett Rail Trail Users Association and is being sponsored by the South Burnett Regional Council through the Federal Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program.

Triathlon Australia is also supporting the organisers of the event.
