With two rounds of the South Burnett Rugby League competition left to play, Kingaroy Red Ants look to have secured the Minor Premiership for 2023.

Kingaroy has won eight of its 10 games so far this year, including last Saturday.

They dialled up their performance in the second half to down the Hornets 32-20 at Cherbourg.

This Saturday, the Red Ants are coming up against Murgon at Murgon Sportsground.

There should be a big home crowd barracking for the Mustangs as it is the club’s special Over 35s Day, where former players will be pulling on their boots to relive past glories.

The Over 35s fun will start at 1:20pm when Murgon will play Goomeri, followed by Wondai v Kingaroy at 2:00pm.

There are also two A Grade games scheduled, as well as an Under 14s game and a full round of junior games (see below).

And, don’t forget, the Red Ants have their special “Pink Day” fundraising day scheduled for the following Saturday (August 12) at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy.

Saturday is also going to be a big day for the South Burnett Eagles who will be taking on the Hervey Bay Seagulls in the Qualifying Final of the Bundaberg Under 18s competition at Salter Oval.

The Eagles finished in third spot at the end of the regular rounds, while the Seagulls were ranked second.

The sides have met three times this season, with two victories to the South Burnett.
