South Burnett Saints fell just short in their match-up against third-placed Cougars on Saturday

July 25, 2023

The South Burnett Saints’ men’s team fell agonisingly short of their third win for the season on Saturday, going down to third-place University Cougars by just four points.

The Round 15 Darling Downs AFL game was played before a home crowd at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.

The Saints, boosted by returning players, have come good at the wrong end of the 2023 season.

They won back-to-back games against the Toowoomba Tigers and Warwick Redbacks before testing the Goondiwindi Hawks last weekend.

Cougars proved too strong for the Saints in the U14s and women’s games.

Next Saturday, the Saints’ women will be in action again in Kingaroy, this time against the Dalby Swans at 12:45pm.

The U14s and the men will have a bye.
