The LNP Opposition says almost a third of Darling Downs Health patients are not seeing specialists within the clinically recommended time.

On April 1, there were 9533 patients waiting to see a specialist but the LNP says that “due to the chaos and crisis of the Palaszczuk Labor Government”, 2791 of these had not been seen within the clinically recommended time.

The figures are from Queensland Health’s specialist outpatient waitlist.

“That means 29 per cent of locals waiting for their appointment are waiting longer than they should,” Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said.

“As a registered nurse and former hospital administrator, I know how frustrating it is for patients who are forced to wait years before seeing a specialist.

“These aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet. These are Queenslanders.  Mums, dads, grandparents, kids and loved ones who need medical attention.”
