Women’s rugby league was in the spotlight at Wondai Sportsground last Saturday with action on the field accompanied by special Ladies Day activities in the clubhouse.

There were games, prizes, snacks, raffles and a prize for the Best Dressed Lady.

Out on the field, there were special invitational games for girl players.

Sadly, the Wolves’ women’s A Grade team didn’t have as much fun in their game, scoring just two tries in a 30-8 defeat by Cherbourg (see below).

And in the men’s A Grade game – which was a catch-up from Round 1 – the Murgon Mustangs found form, downing the Wolves 40-26 in a keenly contested game after leading 18-16 at half-time.

Next Saturday (July 8), the International Legends of League will be returning to Cherbourg with big game names such as Sam Thaiday, Cliff Lyons and Terry Matterson taking on the Cherbourg Hornets All Stars.

The game starts at 3:00pm. More details will be available soon.

And don’t forget, the following weekend (July 15), a QRL Hostplus Cup game (formerly known as the Intrust Super Cup) will be hosted at Wondai between Norths Devils and Wynnum-Manly Seagulls.
