The master plan created for the eventual redevelopment of Kingaroy’s Memorial Park won an award at last week’s annual Park and Leisure Australia Queensland Conference in Brisbane.

The plan was developed by Otium Planning Group, Greenedge Design and South Burnett Regional Council.

It was awarded the “Strategic and Master Planning Award” which recognises the development of strategies for parks, open space, sport, recreation and leisure opportunities.

The award is open to State and local governments, consultants, community organisations and State associations.

The Kingaroy Memorial Park and WJ Lang Memorial Olympic Swimming Pool Master Plan project began at the end of 2021 and has involved key stakeholders, community organisations, Council staff and the community who provided valuable feedback to help shape the plan.

Change is already on the way for the park. Council has been awarded funding through the State Government’s Minor Infrastructure Program to be be used for the construction of a multipurpose court and a ninja warrior course.
