Three local groups have received grants from the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) to support small but important projects.

Kilkivan Veterans and Community Men’s Shed Association has received $7267 under FRRR’s Rebuilding Regional Communities scheme to buy mowing equipment to use at their recently opened Men’s Shed.

Wild Horse FM at Yarraman received $20,000 from the “Prepare & Recover – 2019/2020 Bushfire Recovery” scheme to improve mental and physical health of community members recovering from the Black Summer fires by integrating wellness practices into all station activities including radio broadcasts

The Widgee District Hall & Recreation Association received $10,000 “Prepare & Recover” funding to paint the 100-year-old Widgee Memorial Hall. The project will restore a key community asset which was also used as staging area by the Rural Fire Service during the Black Summer bushfires.

All up, FRRR has awarded $1,340,387 in grants to 131 remote, rural or regional groups across Australia.

The grants were awarded through FRRR’s Strengthening Rural Communities program via one of three streams of funding: Small & Vital, Prepare & Recover or Rebuilding Regional
Communities.

The grant money was provided by a range of donors, from private individuals to larger foundations.
