The Wondai parkrun event celebrated its 300th event on Saturday.

Co-ordinator Ros Heit said 68 runners turned out on a “lovely, foggy morning”.

There was even a “300” cake, made by avid runner Claire Kapernick.

The first Wondai parkrun was held along the South Burnett Rail Trail on January 14, 2017.

“Since then over 2000 individuals have completed 15,032 runs/walks which makes for over 75,000km covered!” Ros said.

The Wondai event was the first parkrun in the South Burnett.

Since then, parkruns have also opened up in Proston, Nanango and Blackbutt.

The countdown is on for the Wondai Country Running Festival, which is just over a fortnight away on June 24-25.

Registrations for the various running events can be made online, but note … the Saturday night dinner at Wondai Town Hall is already booked out!
