The State Government will spend an extra $586.1 million on the LifeFlight aeromedical service over the next 10 years.

The Budget announcement was made by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Monday.

“Our government is committed to providing free, world-class health care no matter where you live in Queensland,” the Premier said.

The funding will contribute to upgrading aircraft and equipment including a power-stretcher loading system compatible with Queensland Ambulance Service stretchers.

“The guarantee of significant funding from the Queensland Government provides the assurance of ongoing support whilst affording us the opportunity to future proof LifeFlight so we continue to care for future generations of Queenslanders,” LifeFlight CEO Ashley van de Velde OAM said.

Last year, the State Government provided an extra $334 million for a 10-year funding agreement with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
