The traditional mid-season Football South Burnett President’s Cup games – which pit the ladder leaders against each other – were played on Friday night in Kingaroy.

The Cup matches were played in chilly conditions under lights at Tom Alford Oval before a small crowd.

Hosts Kingaroy Senior Soccer had three teams in the running for glory, and brought home the two trophies.

In the men’s competition, Kingaroy Islanders downed Kingaroy Easts 3-1 in the local derby.

The women’s cup was a closer contest, with a keenly fought game between Kingaroy Wests and the Nanango Panthers.

Wests eventually came out on top, 2-1.

The South Burnett junior soccer competition moved into its next phase at the weekend, with the Barambah Bears hosting the round of games at their Wondai ground.

Games from U6s through to Cadets were played across seven fields.
